Wherever there is a lack of investment…there’s a lack of vision. What do I mean by this? I’ve realized that the entrepreneurs who choose not to invest usually lack a vision to why their investment is worth it. When you’re aware of the direction you are going, when you can CLEARLY see the outcome you desire for your business, you will invest.
Here are three areas that I feel you should really focus on when it comes to investing into your business.
1. Investment in time.
The time you will invest will seem pointless and in fact will be if you don’t know where you’re going. Time is of the upmost value when it comes to things we are investing. If you lack the vision and direction of where the time should go you’ll be running your wheels exhausted with no purpose as to why you are doing what you’re doing. You’ll miss the mark and everything you’re investing with your time will be inaffective.
On the other hand, when you have vision, you have direction on where you need your time to go. You will know what to say no to and what to say yes to because you’ll understand whether or not it aligns. Although you’re working a lot and you’ll work hard, it will be gratifying because it will have a sense of purpose that you’re one step closer to where you want to be. Having a vision becomes a journey and something you can actually gage.
2. Investment in money.
If you don’t value your business enough, you won’t invest back into it. Although no one likes to spend money at all…running a successful business will require an investment. You have to spend money to make money. So many entrepreneurs manage their business with a scarcity mindset. Fear grips the soul so much that it clouds the vision. Fear in reference to money is dangerous. It will detour you from the decisions you need to make because you’re basing your decisions on survival mode. Doing this will jeopardize the growth of the company.
When you invest money into your company, you will openly share to others that you value the company enough to invest back into it. This is especially crucial if you’re leading a team. A team needs to know that their leader/owern of the company believes in the company enough to invest back into it. It’s the little things that will go a long way. The attention to detail matters. You will be able to express that you want to run your company with excellence and that excellence will compensate for itself. The team will level up and the atmosphere will demand a respect of it’s own. Do you value and believe in your business…then like they say “put your money where your mouth is.”
3. Investment in team building.
If you have a team and you’re not taking the time to invest the time it requires to BUILD the leadership within your team, then you’ve missed the mark. There will be a lot of miscommunication and disunity within the brand, things become dangerous and uncertain. When a leader isn’t in their rightful position as leader, the people under will go into panic mode and will feel like it is their right and need of the business to step into your role. You’ll lose the respect and the trust that you worked so hard to build. The team will start to crumble when the VISION is cloud for the future of the business.
Investing in your team, constantly conveying changes, visions, thoughts and hopes for the company will increase the trust they have for the business. If you constantly share the WHY behind decisions and shifts, the team will back you up. They will sensed your heart and they will be your biggest supporters. If there’s growth in the company there should always be growth in the team. If you honor your team, they will love working for the business and they will bring their all every day they show up. They will know they have a purpose in the great vision.
That’s the key component to all of this…DO YOU HAVE A CLEAR VISION for your business? Are you able to articulate it and understand it well? Have things been cloudy? It’s ok, we all go through those seasons. If you find yourself in that place, make sure you’re speaking to someone that isn’t associated with the company to help you clarify the direction. Someone with the capacity to understand where you want to go next.
CLARIFY your VISION and then invest into this beautiful business you’ve built. This is what being an entrepreneur is all about after all isn’t it….ALL OR NOTHING.
