Brand aesthetics have a really bad rep. People view them as other businesses/people trying to be perfect. It isn’t that at all [well, at least not the way we view it here]. Brand aesthetics absolutely do matter for building consistency in the brand. They’ve done wonders for our businesses. Some of the things I often hear people say, because of the practice of expressing brand aesthetics are… “that’s sooooo Rubi Z right there” or “we knew it would be perfect because you had a part in it.” This isn’t me sharing this in a boastful way whatsoever. It’s exciting that people have found a reason to DISTINGUISH our brands, CONNECT with the things we love and share, and built TRUST.

Let’s break each one of those down a little.
It’s a really rough competition out there and I’m always the one who wants to talk as little as possible about competition because I believe we all have a space that is ours to occupy. BUT…we aren’t just in competition with people that are doing what we do, we are just in competition for people’s attention. You have a product or service to sell and if you don’t even have a few seconds to be able to talk to people, then….how can your business thrive? Because of this fact, the fact that we are bombarded by so much exciting media now a days, it’s important to be impressive. Unless you’re a high brand that can pretty much do whatever you want because of your name-it’s important that we fight for the little space we have on the internet by paying attention to brand aesthetics since they are so impressive and will engage people and make them stop just a little bit so you can have time to share what you do and how you do it.
2. Ignite CONNECTION between you and those you were designed to work with:
This right here is one of my very favorite reasons as to WHY creating a brand aesthetic is so important and very exciting….the CONNECTION. We as humans connect with people who have same style or interests as we do. This is such a missed opportunity in the business world and people don’t pay attention to the mere fact that others want simple ways to connect. We connect over the shirt we bought at Nordstrom, or the song we decided to play. We connect over the cup of coffee we ordered. Just as we connect over seamless things but those seamless things create and ignite a bond…that’s exactly what aesthetics will do. It will ignite connection in the most simplest and genuine ways.
3. Build TRUST in the eyes of others watching what you do:
Ok, I know I said the previous was my favorite…but this one…this one is so cool and very exciting! There is something about someone who takes care of their business so much that they pay attention to the details! The DETAILS after all are EVERYTHING. When someone is aware of their brand aesthetic, it’s impressive to those who are watching. It makes it feel as though that person really invests time and effort into their business brand…and therefore something magical happens….THEY TRUST YOU! Yes, it’s crazy, but it’s true! So many people used to ask me…”how do you get your clients to wear what you suggest, or buy the outfit or details for the shoots” and it’s simple…my clients have learned to trust me. They literally use those words all of the time “you tell me what to buy and get…I TRUST YOU.” Trust is built because they’ve seen the fine details implemented. And because I’m willing to invest effort and time into my brand, they naturally trust our business with other things.
