Courtney with GhilaDolci Bakery is truly a gem.  She exudes class and professionalism.  Her cakes and pastries are both stunning and delicious.  Her amazing pastries are found inside of Cafe Smitten everyday and you haven’t tried a chocolate chip cookie until you’ve tried Courtney’s!

Courtney officially launched her business in 2014; her Nonno (Grandpa) came up with the name GhilaDolci which is a play on her maiden name Ghilarducci and “Dolci,” which means sweets in Italian….clever!!!  Courtney always knew this was the business of her dreams, she’s always had a love for desserts and after graduating culinary school she knew this is what she wanted to do.  Courtney really enjoys classic styles when it comes to creating wedding cakes for clients.  It is a joy for her to create pastries from raw ingredients and watch it bring joy to others.  It is important to Courtney that her clients know that she loves what she does and takes it very seriously. Every order is special to her and she puts a lot of love and energy into every cake she makes.  She likes her work to be classic and timeless and loves to bring her Italian heritage into her work as an inspiration from time to time.  I asked Courtney what she would tell other bakers wanting to pursue this industry and this is what she had to say, “This profession is definitely not easy, nor the most glamorous or lucrative.  I’ve had my ups and downs, but if you work hard and truly enjoy what you do, it will all be worth it.”  Well said Courtney!  In five years Courtney sees herself owning, operating, and growing a store front here in Bakersfield, CA.  I look forward to that day, and I truly feel it’s around the corner.  Congrats Courtney on your success, so much love! xoxoxo -Rubi Z
