About once or twice a year, I love to connect with amazing wedding vendors to create something fun, different and exceptional! Together we dream up a styled session and all contribute to bringing it to life.
This time…it began with a beautiful couple that inspired my heart. Then we added incredible Photo Bus…and locked in the session at the beautiful venue of Flying Caballos in San Luis Obispo. Each vendor really over delivered and I’m so excited with the outcome of this session!
Let me begin by saying that I was pleasantly surprised to drive to Flying Caballos and find it so central in San Luis Obispo County. Usually beautiful venues take us into a little bit of an obstacle or mountain drive, but not Flying Caballos. Yet, you’re not disappointed upon arriving because it literally feels like you’ve walked onto another territory! The land is beautiful and in the midst of this large property are beautiful statement buildings [I’ll touch more on that as we go] but lets talk about this beauty! Their new renovated barn. The modern twist is amazing. There are incredible features like light fixtures from Europe and the huge glass sliding doors that I’m a big fan of. This space is a fresh twist to a normal barn and it was absolutely beautiful.
This beautiful spot on the property is the perfect area for ceremony. The views of the rolling hills are amazing. The space felt very solemn, perfect for one to say their vows in. This space here was designed and set up by Blazeny. The beautiful alter piece was hand crafted by Lauryn with Roots Co. A few of these decor pieces are from Avenue Twelve and the amazing florals designed by Blazeny.
One of the things I love most about Avenue Twelve is that they carry so many pieces that feel like HOME. Creating warms spaces that invite your guests to feel cozy and warm are just a part of a great experience. And without a doubt people will make their way there simply to take beautiful photos. Loved this set up by Blazeny with the pieces from Avenue Twelve, and you can see that the alter piece created by Roots took another form in this set up as an accent piece!
For all my sweet lovers….cake! Just Baked SLO making all of our dreams come true with a blend of cake and donuts. I always love to see a cake displayed in a different way. You can also see how Blazeny decided to take the alter piece and display it as a backdrop in this cake set up as well along with rentals from Avenue Twelve. I absolutely loved this space and believe it can work for couples who are having no children at the wedding. Hopefully adults understand to not touch the cake as well. LOL.
The cake segment of our shoot was taken after a really long day of shooting and right before sunset. I literally took them through so many emotions by this point of the session so the groom was wiped out. And then….I let them dive in and HE CAME BACK TO LIFE! So thank you so much Libby [Just Baked SLO] for bringing the life back into the session so we could wrap it up!
I like the idea of a small cake for weddings, something the couple can put into their hands so that there’s connection with the cake and the couple for photographs.
The Photo Bus SLO is such a fun element and was actually one of the first vendors I booked for this session because I was dying to work with them. I absolutely love elements that add experience for wedding guests while also creating such a beautiful backdrop for photographs. It was such a blast.
At the beginning of visualizing this styled shoot, I didn’t imagine that I would be doing it at a venue…until I spotted this little gem on social media! This TOWER reminded me of a fairytale and I couldn’t believe that it was real. So the more I looked into it, the more I realized how much Flying Caballos had to offer couples and I was eager to work with them! It was only suiting that because I was so struck by this tower that I spend time capturing moments here. When you book Flying Caballos as a venue, you also get the entire property including this tower. I wanted couples to imagine what it would be like to wake up the day after their wedding in this beautiful tower on this amazing property. So…forgive me for a little bit of skin that I don’t usually include on a styled shoot.
Any venue that has space to run into a sunset is a win in my book. I hope you enjoyed this collection of a group of wedding vendors having the best time creating spaces and moments that hopefully inspire you to think of the details and why they matter! With all my heart and soul….Rubi Z.
