Secret Proposal: Disneyland

I was thrilled to receive a call to photograph this secret proposal in DISNEYLAND!  Yes yes yes.  I played spy for the whole segment until he got on his knee.  It was quite magical.  Jacob did an incredible job preparing and brainstorming for the perfect proposal.  Something he planned and worked up weeks before the actual event.  Their proposal consisted of secret messages and clues with a frame in each message containing a photo that they’ve taken together in the past, with Katie’s sisters & Jacob’s sister participated in secretly holding “Will,” “You,” “Marry,” signs.  Just as Katie received her last clue in front of the castle from grandparents (she wasn’t even aware they’d be at the park that day)-she receives an envelope with a blank frame and a note that suggested she meet Jacob in front of the Cinderella wishing well.  The wishing well was the same location Jacob had asked Katie to be his girlfriend.  There, they met with Jacob holding a sign that was the final sign “ME.”  He hit his knee and wished away that Katie would say YES!  And she did.  It was a magic moment surrounded by the people that they love the most.  I always say it’s important to understand that you marry a family as well-and Jacob and Katie know that full well.  There was incredible joy and love in the atmosphere.  We traveled the park taking advantage of the day.  They sat in front of  Kim Au who created such a beautiful art piece as a keepsake of their day!  I DARED to go on the tea cups for the first time ever just to get a perfect shot of the essence of Disneyland.  It was wonderful.  This week we spent the day in beautiful San Francisco CA photographing their engagement photos.  It was pretty amazing and I can’t wait to share those with you all!  Jacob and Katie, may your marriage be just as magical as it all began! xoxoxo -Rubi Z
