Being energetic and bringing life to your brand is essential to avoiding burnout. It’s a real thing. Finding motivation for you and your team is critical to hitting the production mark you hope to achieve. We all know how easy it is to experience burnout. Burnout comes even faster when you don’t enjoy what you’re doing. Building a rhythm in your life to avoid burnout is the best way to go about it.
How can you accomplish this?
We’re not just talking about doing the things you love with work and the industry you’re passionate about. We mean finding those other elements of life that fuel you outside of your office. Is it spending time with family? What about cooking? Is it hosting a gathering or dinner party? Whatever you find yourself doing will translate to your business and the work you do daily. Fuel yourself with things you love, and nothing but good pours out.
What areas are you running into the most challenges? What could you use a little more help for you to thrive in? Finding someone else who is skilled in certain areas will allow you to focus on the places you excel in. You may be good in many areas, and sometimes that means getting support in areas you do well but don’t necessarily bring you life! Releasing tasks gives you more time and energy to focus on the things you’re excited about and want to expand on.
We know that business is serious, but YOU don’t have to be. Find time to enjoy the process of the hard things going on in the industry. Create an environment of play at work. Allow your team to thrive being creative and flexible. We’ve seen countless statistics that prove that creating more space to let loose at work actually builds better productivity. So although we are not saying to goof off all day, we are saying, don’t be so serious all of the time.
To grow and evolve, you have to be around others who will encourage you to push boundaries and take risks. You want to put yourself in circles with others who desire more for their lives and businesses, too. Always pay attention to the way people react when you win. Do they cheer you on? Do they retreat? Perhaps 2022 is the year you find your tribe. Surrounding yourself with people you can thrive with is a game-changer.
Try something new if you want to shake things up and avoid burnout. You might be finding yourself in a rut lately, and nothing will bring you closer to burnout than being bored with life. When was the last time you danced to a new beat? Have you ever considered running, perhaps reading at a location you’ve never read before, picking up some type of art class, trying a new craft just for the sake of doing it? When was the last time you tried something new? SHAKE THINGS UP A LITTLE. Heck, shake them up a lot. Surprise yourself and try new things and watch how they will make everything you do a little more exciting.
Comparison will suck the life out of you. If you fall into the trap of comparing, your life will feel like a rat race that you can’t ever win at. On the other hand, if you continue to compare, you will feel so dissatisfied, and if your victories will only last for a split second before comparison brings you back down. So don’t focus on what everyone else is doing. Instead, think about YOUR next steps. If you eliminate comparison, you will experience less burnout.
Learn to say no to the projects/work that doesn’t bring you joy. Doing work you don’t desire to be doing will cause extreme and quick burnout. We understand that you have to make money, but at least don’t fill your schedule with work you don’t want to be doing. Every time you say “yes” to something you don’t want to be doing, you close the door to an opportunity. When an opportunity you desire knocks, you cannot accept it. Learn to say ‘no’ so that you have room to say ‘yes’ to the right things!
These points are just a guidepost to get you out of a rut you might be in. The rest is up to you. It will look different for everyone. Whatever it looks like for you, fight to keep your energy alive. Keep moving and building the right rhythm for your life and avoid burnout at all costs.
