I’m going to get straight to the point. I love styling my clients. It is a big part of my process and what I believe can transform the way a person feels and therefore the way they translate that feeling onto camera!
Here are some of my absolute FAVORITE looks from ASOS that I find worthy to share! I hope this helps you as you prepare for upcoming shoots. If you love one of these dresses as much as I do, I urge you to not delay, and to buy one because they won’t be around for long. Trust me, most of the ones I was drawn to are on the “selling fast” list.
***Also want to disclose that I did not take any of these photographs, they belong to Asos and their website. Also want to disclose that this is not a paid advertisement, simply a photographer sharing some perspective!
Why I love this dress: I love anything that screams trendy and modern with a touch of high fashion. The asymmetrical design and the dramatic SLEEVE are to die for! This dress would photograph absolutely beautifully. Dresses like these come with a little bit of a challenge-the challenge is tying in the entire look of the shoot from location to accessories to hairstyle and shoes. All of it matters in order to pull off a look like this one, but so worth the hard work and investment because it will most likely be a one of a kind outcome! If you’re curvy and have a really defined waistline this might be such a flattering piece on you! If you’re taller and slim this would be a great option for you as well. Satin is a tough material to wear, as everything shows…nothing a good undergarment can’t fix. Most definitely worth getting!
Why I love this dress: Rust is one of my absolute obsessions right now. I think I can speak for so many of us when I say that. The thing that got me about this dress were the tribal like embellishments and touches of velvet…I mean…STOP! Such a good combo. Yet I love the simplicity of the back but the emphasis on the cut of the back! All around, great from every angle type of dress to wear on a shoot! This might be especially great if you have a toosh you’ve worked really hard for-this back side will really emphasize that!
Why I love this dress: I love absolutely anything mustard yellow. I love absolutely anything that gives me a touch of boho. I love anything that feels chic. Marry all of those together and you have this incredibly stunning dress. I was instantly drawn to the textures of the dress. I mean, photographing the movement of this dress up against a green and nature scenery will make jaws drop to the floor. Can you just imagine the type of shot with the running or the swaying of a dress…gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous. Things to consider: NOTHING…BUY THE DRESS. JK. But seriously, again, I believe this is another fit that will look great on several body types. If you’re self conscious about your back or no sleeves, that might be the only thing to consider. Otherwise….yup, get the dress before Asos sells out.
Why I love this dress: I feel like this is a dress most people might gravitate towards. And who can blame them! It’s effortless yet chic and it feels like the type of dress you want to wear for your fall sessions and fall events. I love the pairing of a boot because it brings a little bit of sass to the down to earth vibe. Things to consider: this cut is better on taller and slimmer body types. Even short body types, but slimmer is still the case.
Why I love this dress: I really love anything that screams high fashion. This to me does that. I love how modern this look is. I believe that wardrobe can transform a session, this is one of those pieces that would do that. Things to consider: try to stay away from greenery and fall like backgrounds or it will take away from the way this dress is supposed to shine. Aim for more city looks or areas that feel modern. If you have killer legs, this might be a great option to show those babies off. I also love that the mini dress is paired with a more covered up top, but the draping brings a little bit of sexiness without revealing much. It’s a great balance.
Why I love it: Red is a really gorgeous color and compliments a lot of skin types. I love the way that red will instantly make things a little spicier. If you pair this dress around a lot of neutral colors or greens, it will really stand out! I mean, who doesn’t love to be a hot tamale right? I also find this cut really flattering on a lot of body types.
Why I love it: Gold is such a stunning color. It is so powerful and most women feel really confident when wearing gold. It immediately gives me egyptian queen vibes. Don’t ask me why, but I love it.. Something about it feels really effortless although it’s so glam. The material appears to be a little heavier so that’s something to take into consideration. It might fit best on body times with slimer upper bodies.
Why I love it: Honestly, this is one of those dresses that I literally opened my mouth in shock when I saw it. It’s one of those dresses that makes me an ASOS believer. I’ve had clients wear ASOS dresses that pretty much looked like a casual wedding gown. With all of the elopements happening, this dress can be a great contender for an elopement, that’s how fabulous I think it is. As a photographer, this would be an interesting piece to photograph. Again, the high empire waist is very flattering. I can see that this might be a great fit on someone who might be curvier at the bottom since it’s so plain at the bottom and the attention is drawn to the top. But, nonetheless I think it’s a great dress for several body types! Tip: A sleek hair do, some nice neutral makeup in the brown and gold tones, a statement earring that would compliment the dress and not take away from it, and some simple shoes will tie this whole look together!
IN closing…you don’t have to have a photo shoot set up to buy the dress. If you fall in love with a dress, purchase it. Let it sit, ready, for your shoot in the near future.
I hope you loved these looks as much as I did. Let me know your thoughts, share with me here, or tag me on my INSTAGRAM page if you bought one of the dresses! I would love to know.
